Frequently Asked Questions
Are you the government registry?
No. We are private marriage celebrants providing a registry-style service on the Gold Coast.
How do we get started?
Click the get married link, fill out the booking form, and pay the fee. That starts the process.
What happens after we book?
After booking, you prepare your Notice of Intended Marriage, have it witnessed by an authorised witness, and send it to us. Once the paperwork is received and we know availability, we confirm the date, time, and place.
Do we still need a Notice of Intended Marriage?
Yes. In most cases the NOIM must be given at least one calendar month before the marriage date and no more than 18 months before it.
Can we use NOIM Easy?
Yes. NOIM Easy walks you through the form step by step, creates a PDF, and can help you send it on to your celebrant.
Is this a wedding ceremony?
No. This service is for couples who simply want to get married. It is brief, legal, and paperwork-focused.
Do we need two witnesses?
Yes. Australian law requires two witnesses aged 18 or over to be present and sign the marriage documents.
Can we get married online?
No. Some planning can be done remotely, but the marriage itself must happen in person with both parties, the celebrant, and two witnesses physically present.
Do we get the official marriage certificate on the day?
No. You receive a ceremonial certificate on the day. The official certificate is ordered later through Queensland Births, Deaths and Marriages after registration.
What if we want a full ceremony or an elopement?
If you want a full ceremony, use a full-service celebrant like Josh Withers. If you want an elopement, use Elopement Collective.
